How do Mobile tickets work compared to other delivery methods?

Modified on Tue, Aug 5 at 3:35 PM

Mobile tickets are designed to be displayed and scanned directly from your smartphone.
They're now the most common delivery method—and are often faster and easier than traditional options like printed or shipped tickets.

What Makes Mobile Tickets Different?

Instead of printing or shipping anything, mobile tickets are delivered digitally and stored on your phone. Depending on the event or ticket provider, your mobile ticket might include:

  • A rotating barcode or QR code

  • A static barcode

  • A SafeTix or NFC-enabled pass (which doesn’t show a visible barcode)

Each venue scans the code (or detects the chip) at the gate—so there’s no need to print anything out.

How Do They Compare to Other Delivery Types?

Delivery MethodWhat You’ll ReceiveWhat You’ll Need at Entry
Mobile TicketA digital ticket sent by email or transferA smartphone with the ticket pulled up
Print-at-HomeA PDF that must be printedA paper copy with a scannable barcode
Hardstock / UPSA physical ticket shipped to youThe original mailed ticket or wristband

Tips for a Smooth Experience

  • Add your ticket to your digital wallet (Apple Wallet or Google Wallet) in advance if the option is available.

  • Make sure your phone is fully charged before the event

  • Increase screen brightness at the gate for easier scanning

  • Download your ticket in advance, especially if cell service may be limited at the venue
